Assistant Principal's Corner

Assistant Principal ChildsBeaver Meadow Assistant Principal of Student Services, Leigh Childs, is entering her 27th year in public education and is excited to be part of the Concord community and the Beaver Meadow family. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 1993 and returned to complete her Master’s in Special Education in 1997.  Mrs. Childs also completed an administrative certification program and internship in Houston, Texas in 2010.

Mrs. Childs is a native Northern New Yorker and began her teaching career in Malone, NY.  After teaching Special Education for 8 years in NY, the Childs’ family relocated to Katy, Texas where she had the opportunity to be the lead Special Education Teacher at a newly established school in her community. After 17 years of teaching Special Education, she moved into an Instructional Coordinator role and then into the building’s Assistant Principal position after competing her Texas Principal Certification. New adventures brought her family to Concord, New Hampshire just a few years ago. Mrs. Childs has been married to her husband Tim for 24 years and they have 3 wonderful children; a son, Austin, a Junior and Division 1 Diver for Texas A & M University (Whoop!), a daughter Alexandra, a Sophomore at NHTI, another daughter Allison, a Junior at Concord High School and a sweet dog named Brenham. Mrs. Childs enjoys attending concerts, traveling and spending time with her friends and family, riding in the JEEP on New Hampshire’s wonderful windy roads and spending time at the lake. Professionally, Mrs. Childs joined the Pembroke School District as their Special Education Coordinator and most recently held the role of Assistant Principal of Student Services in Amherst prior to accepting her new role at Beaver Meadow School as the Assistant Principal of Student Services.

After 9 years of Administrative Leadership, Mrs. Childs is beyond excited to be back in a “Hometown” school in her Concord community. She is looking forward to collaborating with Principal Vance and the staff as well as working side by side with the community and parents to ensure that every student at Beaver Meadow School is afforded opportunities to grow and learn in their own unique way. Leigh is passionate about the inclusion of all students to their maximum benefit and providing opportunities within the school environment for student success.
